About

Meet Owain — your guide to a better practice.

I've built it, scaled it and sold it. I know the road because I've walked it.

Owain Evans, chiropractor and clinic director, founder of Practice Made Perfect

I qualified from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2009, and left with the British Chiropractic Association's Leadership Award — an early sign, maybe, that I was as interested in how a practice is led as in the treatment itself.

I cut my teeth at the Waldegrave Clinic under Tom Greenway, at the time one of the UK's leading sports clinics, working alongside more than 25 practitioners in a busy multidisciplinary setting. It taught me how a great clinic really runs. Within three years I'd qualified as a Royal College of Chiropractic PRT trainer, and I've since mentored dozens of new graduates — as well as building my own patient-management and technique workshops, which I ran every year, in person and online, and sold out each time.

Then I backed myself. I started with a folding bench in my living room, driving it around London in the back of my car to treat patients wherever they were. I got so busy that I handed in my notice, took a room in an osteopathy clinic, and grew again until I outgrew that too.

So I did the thing that changes everything: I wrote a proper business plan and raised the investment to build something of my own. I found the premises, worked with branding consultants and architects, and hired nine people to start with me on day one. It was madness — and on 11 January 2016, Backspace opened its doors in Clapham. Passion, determination and a stubborn belief that it would work carried us, and it grew into a genuinely successful London clinic.

Backspace is where I learned the things I now teach: how to grow a practice, lead a team, and systematise everything so the business doesn't live or die by any one person. In 2018 I joined the British Chiropractic Association board as a director, helping to steer the profession nationally, and the clinic twice won both of the Royal College of Chiropractic's practice awards — the PPQM and the CMQM.

In 2021 I did something that surprised a few people: I began a master's degree in classical singing — my other great passion; typical Welshman. For two years I didn't treat a single patient, and the clinic paid me more than it ever had. That wasn't luck. It was the product of a brilliant team and the training I'd given them — and it proved, beyond any doubt, what a well-built practice can give its owner.

I returned to clinical work in 2023, now a part-time professional opera singer as well as a chiropractor, and in 2024 I decided it was time to sell. I spent a year getting everything in order, and in 2025 I sold the clinic for a very healthy sum. That same year I stepped down from the BCA board after eight years, and was awarded a Fellowship of the British Chiropractic Association — given to members judged to have made an exceptional contribution to the profession.

Outside the clinic, that same belief shows up everywhere I put my energy. I founded Big Gay Out, a community built to tackle loneliness, and I coach gay men on living fuller, freer lives through TheOG Coaching. Different rooms, same conviction: the work you do should serve the life you actually want — not the other way round.

Now I do the thing I love most: helping other practitioners get where they want to go. Whatever stage you're at — building, scaling, stepping back, or selling — I mentor and advise health professionals to run better businesses, and to build better lives around them.

What I'll help you build

True freedom

A clinic that doesn't depend on you being in every room and every decision.

Aligned profitability

Profit that comes from building the business well, not from grinding out more hours.

A fulfilling future

Work that fits the life you want — with the passion that got you started restored.

A practitioner, not an agency.

There's no shortage of business coaches. What's rare is one who has actually run a healthcare practice — felt the 7am self-doubt, made payroll, handled the difficult staff conversation and still shown up for patients. I talk to you as a peer who's been there, in plain language, with no corporate jargon and no slick agency pitch. Just honest, practical help from someone who gets it.

My clinical work continues separately under MotionFix. Practice Made Perfect is where I help other practitioners transform their businesses.

Let's talk about your practice.
